Myth: You have to set exact Body Composition goals to increase motivation

Just like my friends told me when I was trying to find a girl friend who met my exact standards, trying to reach a lofty and often unattainable body fat % or body weight goal can often lead to a loss of motivation. I'm not saying lower your body composition (or partner) standards however select a goal range to aim for. Research has found that having a range such as using 5-8 kg or losing 3-6% body fat can lead to a more successful outcome compared to aiming to lose exactly 8kg or 6% body fat (for example).

Health and Fitness Testing NZ Tip:

Setting goals is important. Yes, the goals you set should be SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound) however make some goals more flexible. This will boost your sense of accomplishment, encouraging you to stay driven.
